Su primera banda antes de Ministry fue Special Affect con Groovie Man (de My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult).

El siguiente disco, The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste fue mejor recibido que 'The Land of Rape and Honey'. La gira fue documentada en "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up".
