Bauhaus es un banda de rock británica (formada en Northampton en 1978) que fue popular en los 80. La banda tomó su nombre de la escuela de diseño alemana Bauhaus creada durante la segunda década del siglo XX, aunque en un principio se llamaron Bauhaus 1919, perdiendo la última parte antes del primer año.

A pesar de que había bandas precursoras del estilo gótico, muchos consideran a Bauhaus la primera banda gótica. Bauhaus combinaban un gran número de influencias punk y glam rock. Su sonido influyó, inspiró y llamó la atención sobre un conjunto de grupos post punk generando el estilo intenso y triste que acabó siendo el rock gótico.

Bauhaus is a British rock band (formed in Northampton in 1978) that was popular in the 80. The band took its name from the school of German design Bauhaus created during the second decade of century XX, although the first band name was Bauhaus 1919, losing the last part before the first year.

Although there were precursory bands of the gothic style, many consider to Bauhaus the first gothic band. Bauhaus combined a great number of influences punk and glam rock. Its sound influenced, inspired and call attention on a set of post punk groups generating the intense and sad style that it finished being the gothic rock.
